Hi my name is Stephanie Hollifield and I teach Horticulture and Agriscience.  A native of Rockingham County, I grew up in a rural, farming community where I learned to have a deep and abiding respect for agriculture.  As a child, I was raised on a hobby farm where we had horses, goats, chickens, guineas, cats, dogs, rabbits- you name it- we even had peacocks at one point!  My family would grow a large vegetable garden each year and you could always find me outside working in the yard, flower beds or traipsing about in the woods near my home.

My interest in plants and animals prompted me to take agriculture classes in high school where I furthered not only my knowledge of the ag. industry, but my leadership skills as well through involvement in the National FFA Organization.  I attended North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina to obtain both my Bachelors and Masters of Science in Agricultural Education.

I did my student teaching experience at Bartlett Yancey High School in Fall 2010 and worked served as the Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor at Dillard Middle School for 7 years prior to transitioning to my current position at BYHS.  Of all of my professional activities, I am most proud of the students I have been able to work with through the FFA and I look forward to many more years of fun and exciting activities, field trips and coaching Career Development Event teams.

I currently reside in Rockingham County with my husband, Logan, and our 3 dogs.  My hobbies include reading, singing in the choir at my church, gardening, kayaking, hiking, yoga and taking road trips to places I read about in Our State magazine.
