Mr. Zimmerman started at BYHS mid September 2016.  He comes to Caswell County with 17 years public school experience from Guilford County Schools as a teacher, central office experience, along with four years high school and six years middle school experience as an administrator.  He left the public school system the summer of 2012 to serve as the Head of School (founding principal) for Hope Academy; a private, faith based modified-middle school for underserved youth grades 5th-8th living in the Glenwood and greater-Glenwood community of Greensboro.

Mr. Z is passionate about encouraging young people.  He strongly believes that students must use education as a tool to transform their future and maximize their potential. He constantly seeks to positively influence the life of others through service. He has severed on the Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center Board and is currently serving as a board member for PEAK Adventure’s Ministries.  In addition, Mr. Z is an active member and deacon for Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, a life member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider.  Mr. Z graduated from NC A&T State University with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics-Secondary Education and earned his Master’s degree in School Administration from UNC-Greensboro.  He is a native of Raleigh-NC, has been married for 23 years to the former Stacey Williamson (BYHS Class of ‘89) and the father of three children, Edgar, Jr. (NCA&TSU sophomore), Lawson (11th  grader), and Stasia (8th grader).

Mr. Z is excited about serving on the administrative team at BYHS and hopes that his philosophy of education (All students can learn, we must provide students with a solid educational foundation allowing them to grow and prepare for life) will assist all BY students and their families in reaching their ultimate goals.  Mr. Zimmerman provides leadership to the BYHS 9th and 10th grade students/families, the mathematics department, career technical education (CTE) department, and science department.  As a new Buccaneer, he is excited to be a part of the BY family for the 2016-17 academic school year.

Go – Buccaneers!
